Homecare Mittelland is a Swiss company that provides professional care for patients, with a strong focus on clinical nutrition. To improve service delivery and support future growth, the company approached us to build a web app where patients and their representatives could easily order care services, medical supplies and nutrition products according to individual treating and care plans
Business needs
When someone becomes ill and faces the prospect of a long hospital stay or being confined to bed at home, the last thing patients, their families or caregivers want is to struggle with a complicated system just to access the care they need. With extensive experience in the medical field, the Homecare leadership team had a clear understanding of the platform that we should deliver. They asked us to build a web app that would be easy to use for people of different ages and generations, with clear service descriptions, a transparent order history (linked to each patient), support for various payment methods, and a centralized place to store all administrative information. The platform also had to support collaboration with nursing homes and partner institutions, making it easy to place orders and arrange delivery to any location where care is provided.
Solution
We focused on building a platform that makes the ordering process fast and intuitive. Users ( Typically caregivers or relatives) often place orders on behalf of patients using prescribed nutrition plans, helping ensure they receive the right supplements, treatments, or care products without unnecessary steps. The system also allows for quick repeat orders, reducing repetitive tasks and saving time. All product and service descriptions were created in close collaboration with Homecare’s nurses and nutritionists to ensure clarity and medical accuracy. In addition to serving individuals, the platform supports external care facilities and partner organizations, allowing them to place and manage orders with flexible delivery to homes, nursing centers, or other care locations.
Result
The web app platform that we built for Homecare Mittelland is now used by patients, caregivers, and partner care facilities to order prescribed nutrition products, medical supplies, and manage routine care tasks. Repeat orders take just a few steps, and deliveries are organized to reach patients at home or in care institutions. The platform also supports hiring licensed caregiver professionals or arranging consultations, when needed, helping streamline communication between all sides involved in the care process.
